Why Do Less

I’ve stopped making resolutions, but I still find it useful to write down goals and dreams - and it doesn’t have to be done only at the beginning of each year. Every day, every week, every month is an opportunity for a new start.

If you plan to do a similar exercise I’d like to recommend testing out the concept of Doing Less as you make your plans.

In Essentialism by Greg McKeown, he illustrates this with the following graphic

By focusing your energy in one direction, you’ll be able to make faster progress on that goal. If you try to put your energy in too many different directions at once you may find that you’re not making any headway, and that your attention is divided between conflicting priorities. Similar concepts are discussed in The ONE Thing, Deep Work, and Four Thousand Weeks - all recommended reads if you’re looking for some new resources to help get you motivated this year.

If you were going to focus on only one project or new initiative this year, what would it be?
What would make the biggest impact on you, your life, your business, or your bottom line?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on which one thing you would choose. Interested in brainstorming or discussing a plan of action together? Need some accountability to get started or stay motivated? Fill out an inquiry form and let’s make this happen.

Even if we don’t get a chance to connect one-on-one, be sure to send me some of your wins along the way so we can celebrate. Post them in the comments section below!

Sincerely,

Lana
